Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about the Tackle Shop Rebate
Who is eligible for the rebate?
To claim, you must be a resident of Western Australia and hold a valid Recreational Fishing from Boat Licence (RFBL) at the time of claim. If the licence holder is under 16, a parent or guardian can claim on their behalf using the online claim form.
How much can I claim?
One claim of up to $50 on eligible fishing gear from a participating tackle shop. If you spend less than $50 you can only claim the amount spent, and there is a $1 minimum spend. You can claim once per RFBL holder, using one valid tax invoice.
When does the program run?
The program runs from 18 May to 17 November 2026, or until 66,000 rebates have been claimed — whichever comes first. Purchases must be made during the program period; the tax invoice must be dated on or after 15 May 2026.
What proof of purchase do I need?
A valid itemised tax invoice from a participating tackle shop showing the business name, ABN, total value (including GST), the date of invoice, and an itemised list of the products purchased. The invoice can be hardcopy or digital — for a hardcopy, take a photo or scan to upload with your claim.
How long until I'm paid?
Successful claims made through the ServiceWA app are paid to your nominated Australian bank account within approximately 7 business days. Claims made via the alternative online form can take up to 30 business days due to manual identity checks. Overseas bank accounts are not accepted.
Can I claim on non-fishing items?
No. Only recreational fishing gear used solely for fishing is eligible. Items with general or multiple uses — such as ice, drinks, food, water bottles, clothing, merchandise, camping and boating equipment — are not eligible. You can buy these on the same invoice, but you'll only be rebated for the eligible fishing gear.
Where can I get help with my claim?
Phone ServiceWA Customer Care on 13 33 92 (available 24/7), email support@digital.wa.gov.au, or visit a DPIRD fishing licence office. For a full list of participating tackle shops, FAQs, Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy, visit dpird.wa.gov.au/TSR.
