The revolutionary Durability Roller Drag (DRD) system is engineered to withstand repeated heavy runs from large fish while preventing wear and drag seizure under high load. Replacing conventional carbon washers, the DRD uses a metal plate with eight metal rollers to reduce frictional heat and maintain drag force, delivering over five times the durability compared to standard drags (based on Daiwa’s internal tests). It also provides a notably smoother drag start for better control.
Note: DRD spools (14000 and above) require the SALTIGA DRD radiation drag knob (sold separately) for compatibility.
LC-ABS optimizes spool ring shape for smoother line release, while the LC-ABS SW further enhances this with a two-stage taper on the spool’s upper winding section. This design reduces friction during the latter part of the cast, especially benefiting thick braided lines by increasing casting distance by about 2% (Daiwa test results).
Pro Tip: Avoid excessive line tension when winding to prevent spool deformation:
Important: When installing the DRD 14000 spool, ensure you purchase the DRD radiation knob (sold separately) for proper fit and function.
